Our Services
-
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is designed for clients seeking treatment for diagnosable mental health conditions. You may be a good fit for psychotherapy if you have a current or past mental health diagnosis, are taking prescribed medication, or have a history of hospitalization.
Fee: $200 (50 minutes)
Insurance: May be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement

Counseling
Counseling offers support and growth without requiring a diagnosis. It integrates my training as a clinical psychotherapist with coaching techniques and provides an option for clients who prefer not to use insurance. Because counseling is not billed to insurance, it offers greater confidentiality and flexibility.
Counseling can be in-person or remote (for clients residing outside of Maine).
Fee: $200 (50 minutes)
Insurance: Not billable to insurance
Payment
Appleyard Counseling is an out-of-network provider. If you’d like to request reimbursement from your insurance company, I can provide a detailed invoice (superbill).
Payment is due at the time of service
Accepted forms: Visa, MasterCard, HSA, cash, or personal check
Limited sliding-scale spots are available, based on income and availability
Insurance Questions to Ask
When speaking with your insurance company, it may help to ask:
What mental health services are covered? (e.g., individual, couples, EMDR, Ketamine-Assisted Therapy)
What is my deductible, and how much has been met?
Is there a session limit per year?
Do I need pre-authorization?
What is your out-of-network reimbursement policy?
Billing Procedures
After your session, I will provide a superbill with all required details.
Submit the superbill to your insurance provider (online, by mail, or fax).
Follow up to confirm receipt and processing. Reimbursement timelines vary.
Good Faith Estimate (GFE)
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of non-emergency services. This estimate will be included with intake paperwork.
The estimate reflects the expected cost of your initial treatment plan
If treatment extends, you’ll receive an updated estimate
